Taiwan-based solar cell maker Motech has reported revenues of NT$16.703 billion (US$576 million) for the first half of 2011, showing a 16% on-year growth. Gross margin decreased to 5.16% compared to 16.6% in the first half of 2010. Net profits were NT$34.68 million with EPS of NT$0.11.

Motech's revenues from the second quarter were NT$6.46 billion with gross margins falling to 6.5%. Net losses were NT$720 million. EPS in the second quarter was negative NT$1.69. Motech indicated the net losses were due to investment losses at AE Polysilicon.

Motech's solar cell capacity has reached 1.5GW, and it does not plan to expand capacity in 2012. Motech is currently operating at full capacity. Furthermore, solar wafer production has reached 500MW.
