Qisda posted consolidated revenues of NT$21.05 billion (US$700 million) in second-quarter 2011, with an on-quarter decline of 3.9%. EPS for the second quarter reached NT$0.07. The company also recorded consolidated revenues of NT$43 billion in first-half 2011, with a loss per share of NT$0.54.

Monitor shipments totaled 3.9 million units in second-quarter 2011, remaining at a similar level to that in the first quarter. Monitor shipments reached 7.97 million units in first-half 2011, up 12% compared with second-half 2010.

Second-quarter projector shipments totaled 312,000 units, representing an on-quarter increase of 8.5%. Printer shipments decreased 6% in the second quarter, while shipments of mobile devices slid 30% compared with those in the first quarter.

Monitors accounted for 66% of Qisda's second-quarter sales, projectors 15%, and printers 7%.

Qisda said monitor shipments in third-quarter 2011 are expected to stay flat compared to the second quarter as the result of a conservative demand in the IT industry. But projector shipments may decline due to legacy products' exit from the market. Printer shipments may receive a boost due to the introduction of MEMS technology into products.

Mobile device shipments may experience a further decline in third-quarter 2011 after sliding in the second quarter, but sales may pick up later in the year due to Qisda's release of new e-book readers at the end of 2011.

Qisda vice president Hermit Huang said that about 20% of its mobile devices are e-book readers and that the new product release is expected to contribute to sales in the fourth quarter.
