Qisda is expected to receive orders from Barnes & Noble for the vendor's Nook Color e-book reader, with annual shipments likely to reach one million units in 2012, according to industry sources.
But the maker declined to comment on individual clients.
Qisda said during its investors meeting that the overall e-book reader market would remain slow in third-quarter 2011 but Sipix's new e-paper products may start generating revenues in the fourth quarter. Sipix is slated to mass produce its next-generation e-paper with improved whiteness in the fourth quarter. Qisda and Sipix are members of the BenQ Group.
Demand from Barnes & Noble would boost Qisda's revenues and shipments of mobile devices, said the industry sources.
Qisda posted a net profit of NT$130 million (US$4.47 million) in second-quarter 2011, with an EPS of NT$0.07.
