IC packagers Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) and Silicon Precision Industries (SPIL) have reported sequential growth of 2.9% and 6.7%, respectively, in consolidated revenues for August 2011.

Revenues of ASE's core IC ATM (assembly test and material) business were NT$11 billion (US$381 million) in August, up 0.6% on month. Including sales by EMS subsidiary Universal Scientific Industrial (USI), ASE's sales grew by a larger 2.9% sequentially to NT$15.86 billion in August.

ASE said previously that the IC ATM unit would post sequential revenue growth through September, and total shipments for the third quarter would increase 3-6% on quarter.

SPIL registered NT$5.67 billion in August consolidated revenues, up 6.7% on month and 1.8% on year. The company expects a 2-6% sequential rise in third-quarter revenues.

In other news, memory packaging and testing specialist Powertech Technology (PTI) saw its consolidated revenues decrease 1.8% sequentially and 2.6% from a year earlier to NT$3.2 billion, which also represented the lowest monthly level for 2011. The company has guided that its third-quarter sales will decline on quarter affected by production cutbacks at its DRAM clients.
