China observes 100th birthday of late revolutionary

BEIJING, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- A symposium was held on Wednesday to commemorate the 100th birthday of the late Kang Keqing, a veteran revolutionary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and leader of China's women's movement.

Kang, wife of the late marshal Zhu De, was a former member of the CPC Central Committee, former vice chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and former president of the All-China Women's Federation.

In a speech at the event, Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, called on people to learn from Kang's perseverance in maintaining her faith, loyalty to the Party and the people, and earnest working style.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC's National Committee, attended the commemoration seminar, which was held in the Great Hall of the People in downtwon Beijing.
