Asia Electric Material September FCCL shipments hit record

   Date:2011/10/20

Asia Electric Material (AEM), a Taiwan-based maker of flexible copper-clad laminates (FCCLs), shipped nearly 800,000 square meters in September, its highest monthly volume on record, according to the company.

Consequently, AEM hit monthly record revenues of NT$189 million (US$6.35 million) in September and quarterly record revenues of NT$504 million for the third quarter, the company indicated. AEM expects its revenues for the fourth quarter to slip sequentially by 10.7% to NT$450 million due to inventory adjustments by clients.

Of AEM's clients, 60% are China-based FPCB makers, the company indicated. Due to booming demand for touch-screen handsets in the China market, demand for FPCBs is growing, and consequently orders from China-based makers are expected to increase in 2012, AEM pointed out. AEM looks to 20-30% growth in its 2012 revenues from 2011.

In order to meet growing demand and develop new products, AEM plans to expand its monthly FCCL production capacity from 800,000 square meters currently to 1.8 million square meters at the end of 2012, the company indicated.
