Power Quotient International (PQI) and Apacer Technology, two Taiwan-based makers of memory modules, on October 31 reported their financial reports for the third quarter of 2011, recording net profit of NT$78 million (US$2.7 million) and that of NT$64 million respectively.
PQI turned its operation from net loss of NT$94 million for the first half of 2011 to profitability in the third quarter.
Apacer has been shifting its business focus to value-added products including external hard disk drives, SSDs (solid-state drives), multimedia players and industrial-use memory, with these products accounting for 45% of its total revenues and Europe and China being main markets, the company indicated.
