Taiwan-based Quanta Computer has obtained ODM orders for 9-10 million notebooks to be shipped in 2012 from Acer, more than double the order volume in 2011, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

Quanta obtained orders for 13-, 14- and 17-inch models for shipments in 2012 from Acer, accounting for 40% of Acer's total notebook orders in 2012, the sources pointed out. In 2011, Quanta accounted for less than 20% of Acer's shipments, the sources indicated. Quanta has jumped from a second-tier ODM for Acer to a major one parallel to Compal Electronics, the sources noted.
