Google to maintain a well-functioning Android ecosystem

Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt, commenting on concerns about the company's acquisition of Motorola during his visit to Taiwan on November 9, pointed out that the company will continue to maintain Android's well-functioning ecosystem and all resources will be shared among the ecosystem's suppliers and partners, and Motorola will also maintain operating independence. Google also promised to keep its Android operating system as an open platform.

As for whether Google will launch own-brand smartphones or products, Schmidt refused to reveal any of the company's future plans or strategy.

As the mobile device industry is facing fierce patent lawsuits, Google also noted that the company will provide its partners with assistance to handle the lawsuits, as it has done for High Tech Computer (HTC).
