   Date:2011/11/11

Samsung Electronics has unveiled two new high-end smartphones, the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Nexus, in Shanghai, China. The Galaxy Note, which comes with a 5.3-inch display, integrates smartphone and tablet PC functions in a single mobile device, aiming to bring a new mobile experience to users, according to JK Shin, president of mobile communications unit at Samsung.

Samsung also plans to bring the Galaxy Note to the Taiwan market later in November in cooperation with top-three Taiwan-based carriers, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) and Taiwan Mobile.

The company aims to sell up to 100,000 units of the Galaxy Note prior to the Lunar New Year holidays, said Andy Tu, president of mobile communications unit at Samsung Taiwan.

Sales of Samsung's Galaxy S II in the Taiwan market have exceeded 100,000 units since the device launched in mid-2011, Tu noted.

Samsung also plans to launch the Galaxy Nexus in Taiwan in December and aims to capture the top ranking in the local smartphone segment as well as a 30% share of the entire handset market by year-end, Tu stated.
