A leading lubricant production center, the largest a Japanese firm has established in China, recently began operation in Guangzhou, capital city of south China's Guangdong Province.
Industry observers said the Nippon Oil (Guangzhou) Lubricating Oil Co. project will be welcomed by local motor vehicle, steel and shipbuilding sectors.
Located at Xiaohu Village of Nansha District, the 17 million U.S. dollar plant is designed to produce 27 million liters of lubricants per year, company sources said.
Funded by Nippon Oil Corporation from Japan, the project will bring the Japanese company's total lube production capacity in China to 82 million liters, or 1.6 percent of China's annual demand, the sources added.
Nippon Oil Corporation is one of the largest oil companies in Japan and a Fortune 500 company.
