Foxconn to construct cloud computing buildings in southern Taiwan

The Foxconn Group will start construction of two buildings at the Kaohsiung Software Park in southern Taiwan on December 1, according to industry sources. The buildings will house three centers: a cloud computing center to be equipped with an internally developed container data center; a software development center focusing on cloud computing, digital content, security monitoring, and environmental protection; and a technological innovation incubation center, the sources indicated.

The two buildings will be on a site of 1.85 hectares (4.57 acres) and the total estimated investment is more than NT$1.9 billion (US$63.3 million), the sources indicated. Foxconn plans to employ 3,000 software engineers for the three centers in five years, the sources noted.
