Cloud computing player Wyse acquisition of Trellia to benefit Inventec

   Date:2011/11/24

Cloud client computing solution player Wyse Technology's recent acquisition of cloud computing infrastructure management player Trellia is expected to benefit its major ODM partner Inventec in terms of shipment volume, according to sources from the cloud computing industry.

Wyse has been expanding its operations in the cloud computing industry and has just recently signed a contract with China-based IT system retailer Digital China for cooperation in China's cloud computing market, the sources noted.

The sources pointed out that Wyse and Hewlett-Packard (HP) are the top-2 players in the cloud computing client market with their combined share accounting for 50%, and with Wyse's aggressive acts in the industry, research firm IDC has forecast that the virtual client computing market will reach a value of US$3.2 billion by 2014.

As Wyse's thin client shipment volume enjoyed a 52% on-year growth in the first quarter plus its annual shipment volume in 2011 is also expected to see a growth of more than 50%, Inventec's shipments of thin clients are also expected to grow 50% on year to two million units in 2011.

In addition to Wyse, Inventec has also been aggressively striving for thin client orders from HP.
