Digital television (DTV) production in Chin will triple to 54.4 million units by 2010 due to increasing market demand and strong support from the government.

The emergence of China's DTV market could bring more profits to components producers and retailers in both China and other Asia Pacific countries.

Xiamen Overseas Electronics Company, Hisense and TTE are expected to take the lead in DTV manufacturing by year's end. Taiwan semiconductor manufacturer Mstar Semiconductor is expected to occupy the largest market share of DTV processing chips in mainland China.

By the year 2008, annual shipments of LCD TVs will exceed 11 million units, approximately 53 percent of all DTV shipments and 28 percent of all the TV production in China. It is said that Chinese TV OEMs must cooperate with DTV service providers and component manufacturers in order to succeed in the DTV industry.
