Exhibition tells tech park's evolution

   Date:2012/02/10

AN exhibition is being held to showcase the development of the Shanghai Zhangjiang High-Tech Industrial Park in Pudong New Area and high-tech products made by companies there.

The free exhibition was launched yesterday at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the park where about 16,000 companies, including 940 high-tech firms and 1,000 research and development facilities, are located.

Last year the park started the first phase of expansion from the original 63 square kilometers to 296.4 kilometers by including five industrial parks in Hongkou, Xuhui, Changning, Songjiang and Minhang districts in a move to better its industrial layout, transform its industrial structure and increase higher resource efficiency, the Shanghai government said.

Following the national recognition as the nation's third innovation industry zone early last year, Shanghai implemented favorable policies offering tax and talent incentives, share structure and financing services.

The exhibition, which is located at the underground floor of the museum, has 11 display sections including 179 items featuring strategic new industries. Over 60 percent of the display items are interactive.

The exhibition will show an IMAX dome film about the park's development.
