OEM TV maker Amtran Technology is expected to take up 80% of LCD TV orders to be released by Vizio in 2012, according to an industry estimate.
With sales of LCD TVs still remaining strong in the North America market and Vizio being a market leader in the region, Amtran's shipment outlook is positive for 2012, said the sources.
But Amtran declined to comment on recent market speculation indicating that it plans to launch entry-level direct-type LED TVs in March-April to counter aggressive marketing efforts by Samsung Electronics.
However, Amtran believes that large-size LCD TVs will bring a rebound for the global TV industry, and it will focus on the production of TV models with display sizes of over 40-inch, which currently account for 45-50% of its total shipments.
