Touch panel maker TPK Holding aims to expand the number of its clients from around 30 currently to more than 40 in 2012 as well as to develop large-size touch panels in line with the launch of Windows 8, according to company chairman Michael Chiang.
Branded vendors are expected to roll out about 20 touch-enabled PC products, including notebooks and all-in-one (AIO) models, with display sizes over 12-inch in 2012, and TPK has landed touch panel orders for 16 products, Chiang revealed.
Additionally, TPK has also received orders for 17-inch touch panels from US-based electric car vendor Tesla, with shipments to gain momentum starting June 2012, Chiang added.
TPK has reached a yield rate of 80-85% for the production of small- and medium-size touch panels, and expects yield rates for large-size models to be on par with those for smaller panels, Chiang stated.
TPK also plans to venture into the DSC, in-car display and digital gaming machine segments in 2012, Chiang said.
