A spokesperson for Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn's (2038.HK; 2354.TW) Taiyuan campus said recently that Taiyuan Foxconn was working to build a production base for Apple's next-generation iPhone, but was facing a shortfall of approximately 20,000 workers. A Taiyuan Foxconn employee said that Foxconn had won 85% of the contracts for the next-generation iPhone, amounting to an annual production volume of roughly 57 mln units.
