Beijing to Boost Tourist Service Facilities

   Date:2006/12/31

Beijing has released a new tourist development plan aimed at building more tourist-friendly services in the capital within the next 5 years. The new network of tourist services will consist of tour group dispatch hubs (where short-distance package tours by bus are available), travel information services and tourist centers inside the scenic spots. The new facilities will be sited all over the city.

The plan says six to eight new tour group dispatch hubs and eighteen to twenty new travel information services will be built in the busiest parts of the city, including the airport, railway stations and downtown shopping zones.

Mobile travel services will also be provided to serve large numbers of visitors during special occasions like national holidays, big conferences and events, and the Olympics.

All the tourist-related signs across the city will be upgraded to meet international standards. The signs around the Olympic facilities will display multiple languages, while bilingual English-Chinese signs will be available in other areas.
