China extends antidumping investigation against nonyl phenol

   Date:2006/12/31
China's Ministry of Commerce said the temporary anti-dumping investigation into nonyl phenol imported from India and Taiwan region will be extended to June 29, 2007.

The ministry started the investigation on Dec. 29, 2005 and adopted temporary anti-dumping measures against the product from July 10, 2006.  The investigation was originally supposed to end at the end of this year.

The ministry required importers of nonyl phenol originating from India and Taiwan to pay a deposit to Chinese mainland customs depending on the degree of the alleged dumping, ranging from 9.07 to 20.38 percent. The first verdict showed the Chinese mainland's nonyl phenol industry was hurt by the dumping.

Nonyl phenol is a chemical used in textiles, lubricating oil, rubber and pesticides.
