Increased STB shipments boosts Zinwell revenues in Dec.06

   Date:2007/01/10
Boosted by increased shipments of low noise block (LNB) devices and set-top boxes (STBs), revenues for Zinwell were expected to top NT$680 million (US$20.9 million) in December, up from NT$631.3 million recorded in November 2006, according to sources at Zinwell.

For the fourth quarter of 2006 as a whole, the company's revenues were expected to amount to NT$1.94 billion, higher the NT$1.8-1.9 billion the company expected. For all of 2006, Zinwell's revenues were expected to reach NT$5.77 billion, up 54% from a year earlier.

In 2006, Zinwell saw its shipments of STBs increase 80% on year to about 450,000 units, with a prospect to see its STB shipments double in 2007, stated the sources.

Since the production capacity of the company's STB plant in Dongguan, China, has been fully booked, the company has decided to invest an additional US$4 million to increase capacity at the plant.

It is predicted that the company's revenues are expected to set a new record in the first quarter of 2007, although part of the orders for the high-end STBs would be delivered in the second quarter.
