China becomes 4th largest in-bound tourism market in 2006

China received a record 124 million travellers, including a growing number of Indians in 2006 to become the fourth major inbound tourism market in the world.

China received 124 million inbound travellers in 2006, ranking fourth in the world, according to brief statistics released by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA).

The figures include arrivals from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. China reaped $33.5 billion in tourism income last year, ranking sixth in the world.
