Foxconn (the trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry) recently sent samples of 32-inch LCD TV to Sony, with shipments to kick off in July. Foxconn has recruited R&D staff from Taiwan-based display specialist Amtran Technology since last year.

In the future, Foxconn will focus on LCD TV assembly while Innolux Display, a subsidiary of Foxconn, will concentrate on LCD monitors. Foxconn commented the report was untruth, according to the company filing with Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) on February 12.

Near the end of 2005, connector-maker Foxlink (Cheng Uei Precision Industry), an affiliate of Fox conn, was said to have added its first LCD module (LCM) assembly line at its Kunshan plant in Jiangsu Provinc. Sources said Foxlink will use the LCM line to support Foxconn's initial LCD TV assembly needs.

Sony's LCD TV contract partners currently include Amtran, Wistron, Delta Electronics and TPV Technology. The Japan-based TV giant is said to place more LCD TV orders with Taiwan-based makers this year for better profitability.

Foxconn has been aggressively developing the LCD display market while Innolux is aiming at the top position in the LCD monitor market and targets to ship 27 million units in 2007, up 50% from 2006. On the other hand, in addition to shipping 27 million LCD monitors this year.
