Chinese mainland leads upsurge of visitors to Nepal

   Date:2007/03/09

Chinese mainland leads the upsurge of visitors to Nepal arriving by air route in February, with a 281.6 percent increase year on year. In February 2007, the number of visitors to Nepal arriving by air route increased 62.6 percent from the same month last year.

Among the Asian markets, northeast Asian countries record big leaps, with South Korea increasing 88.8 percent and Japan 69.5 percent.

Robust increase in visitor number, especially from the Chinese mainland, South Korea and Bangladesh, has been the result of direct air connectivity recently established by the addition of new airlines between Nepal and the respective countries.
