CELANESE Corp, a United States-based hybrid chemical company, said yesterday its China subsidiary has signed deal with Hebei Shield Technology Co to form a joint venture to manufacture, distribute and sell products.

The 50/50 venture will build a plant in Bazhou, in northern Hebei Province, to produce vinyl ester of neodecanoic acid, a monomer used in the production of vinyl acetate-based polymer systems for a variety of applications, including interior and exterior coatings, adhesives and thermal insulation. The plant will have an initial production capacity of 5,000 tons a year.
