Tourism, auto sales affected

   Date:2007/04/23

Hong Kong's travel packages to Europe and European made vehicles are facing price pressure. This is due to the continuous slide of US dollar and appreciation of euro.

Local travel agencies say May to October is the mid-season of Europe travel, but the rising euro is increasing their costs. Package prices during the May Day holidays are expected to rise by 20 percent.

Meanwhile, vehicle dealers say they will have to increase the prices of European cars if the euro still keep its trend. They say luxury cars will be affected firstly.
