KONKA Group Co, a Chinese television and mobile phone maker partly-owned by France's Thomson SA, posted a 43 percent increase in profit last year as rising incomes in China boosted demand for flat-panel TVs.

Net income rose to 102.6 million yuan (US$13.3 million), or 0.17 yuan a share, from 71.9 million yuan, or 0.12 yuan, a year earlier, the company said yesterday in a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Sales increased to 12.7 billion from 11.5 billion yuan, Konka said.

Thomson paid US$27 million for eight percent of the Shenzhen-based company in 2005, making it Konka's fourth-biggest shareholder, Bloomberg News reported.
