Tourism to lead consumption trend in China

According to Nelson, travel expenditure of Chinese has increased by 10%, and 53% of them plan to spend more on travels in the future, the top in all Asian countries.
"Though regional security is under the threat of terrorism today, China has kept its good name as one of the safest tourist destinations in the world. Tourism in China will maintain rapid growth in the near future," said Wang Zhifa, deputy director of the National Tourism Administration.
China takes tourism as one of its most important projects during the 11th Five-Year Plan Period (2006-2010). Currently, the GDP per capita in China is only around $1,000, and when it reaches $2,000 - $3,000, the structure of tourism industry will surely be different and form a new market with even greater demand.
