July 19 – Fujian Guanfu Modern Household Wares (002102) canceled two investments in the cities of Chengdu and Shenyang, citing the financial crisis and the delays following the 2008 Wenchuan county earthquake, reports stcn.com, citing a company filing.
Guanfu will transfer its stake in Chengdu Mingfa City Construction Limited to recover the initial investment. The firm says the transfer will be worth no less than the 43.49 million yuan it invested into it so far. Wenchuan county was the site of the epicenter of the earthquake that devastated central Sichuan province, and it borders Chengdu city.
In 2008, Guanfu formed a distribution management center in Shenyang for a total investment of 1.05 billion yuan. The Quanzhou-based firm says that the project could affect its operating cash flows.
