August 11 – Guangzhou Pharmaceutical’s (600332.SH) subsidiary launched its online store, which began trial sales in May, reports yicai.com. The store has generated revenues of 600,000 yuan since then, selling roughly 7,000 products. It expects to offer as many as 15,000 by next year.
The online store reportedly sells at prices 10-30 percent lower than its brick-and-mortar outlets.
In 2010, the scale of China’s retail medicine business was 173.9 billion yuan, but only 70 million yuan came from online sales, a proportion of 0.046 percent.
Only five enterprises are qualified to carry out B2B and B2C medicine businesses at present.
