August 11 -- Huayi Brothers Media Corporation (300027) posted a 125.09 percent year-on-year increase in first half 2011 net profit attributable to shareholders to 63.65 million yuan, with earnings per share of 0.11 yuan, reports National Business Daily, citing a company filing.
Revenue increased 63.24 percent to 331 million yuan.
The company launched five movies and four TV serials in the first half. Revenue from movies rose 133.26 percent year-on-year, while revenue from TV serials declined 0.9 percent year-on-year.
The company obtained additional revenue of 38.81 million yuan from its new music, cinema, and games businesses in the first half.
Tencent Holdings (0700.HK) bought 27.8 million shares in Huayi Brothers on May 6, becoming the largest holder of the company's tradable shares and the fourth largest shareholder.
