I recently had the privilege of having an interview with Shanda Games about Dragon's Nest (SEA.) I would like to thank them for taking the time to answer my questions.

Michael Fuchs (MMOSite) : Hello, my name is Michael Fuchs, and I am a Columnist with MMOSite. Could you please tell us a bit about your position with Shanda Games?

Hi, my name is Addison Kang and I am the Producer of our flagship title, Dragon Nest on SEA service. On top of it, I manage the company's publishing business & operations outside of China as the Vice-President of Shanda Games International.

Michael Fuchs (MMOSite) : How would you describe Dragon Nest to someone who has never heard of it before?

Whipping out my marketing hat, Dragon Nest boasts visually jaw-dropping graphics and allows gamers to enjoy a console-like experience on their PC. It incorporates a unique mechanics of an MO Action Role Playing game in a persistence world. Words are not enough to express the game's thrilling actions and effects, you must experience it yourself to understand how enthralling the game is.

Michael Fuchs (MMOSite) : The open beta for Dragon Nest recently started on August 16th, 2011. How would you say the game has progressed since the closed beta?

We have definitely come a long way since then! Dragon Nest players can now enjoy new features added into Open Beta, such as the Cash Shop, Guild and more. Naturally we are not just stopping here, as we look to add and implement more features into Dragon Nest to keep the game continuously fresh for our players. For the latest update, I would like to encourage your readers to check back at our Dragon Nest SEA website at http://dn.cherrycredits.com often.

Michael Fuchs (MMOSite) : One of the new features in the open beta is the "guild system". What can you tell us about that?

The Guild system in Dragon Nest is aimed to provide a level of social interaction amongst Dragon Nest players, and also to allow a group of like-minded players to band together to complete quests and tackle tougher dungeons together. There are additional tangible benefits in joining a Guild too, such as having a 'Guild Storage' so that loots and items can be shared freely among members. As a Guild expands in size, so too will the Storage space.

Michael Fuchs (MMOSite) : Another of the new features in the open beta is the "affinity system". Could you please explain what this is to our readers and how is will affect gameplay?

So basically, the Affinity System in Dragon Nest allows players to forge friendships with NPCs to gain discounts when purchasing items or services from them. Players can choose to give gold or specific items, depending on the NPC's request. In return you get EXP to level up your friendship with them. The higher your 'affinity' is with an NPC, the higher the discount he or she will give to you.
