Zoomlion Ghana Limited ,a leading waste management company in the country has been adjudged “The Marketing Oriented Company of the Year 2010” by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) at the Institute’s annual awards ceremony in Accra.
A citation accompanying the award stated “Zoomlion since its formation in 2006 has become a household name in the provision of environmental sanitation services in Ghana and beyond.” The citation also mentioned the employment created by Zoomlion, and the foreign countries the company is operating in as part of the company’s achievements.
“Your contribution to society in the area of donations, disinfestations, support programmes in the field of health, education and sponsorships are note worthy,” the citation said adding, “Your efforts to make |Ghana a clean haven have touched the hearts of Ghanaians and your evaluators who have ranked you high.”
In an interview, the Ag. Managing Director of Zoomlion Mr. E. O Okomeng who received the award on behalf of the company said the company wishes to dedicate the award to the Board, management and staff of the company especially the street workers, drivers and janitors who have over the years worked very hard to sustain the gains made by the company.
The Communications Manager of the Company, Mrs. Isabella Gyau Orhin said the company was grateful for the honour and was very proud that its efforts at keeping Ghana clean, green and healthy have been recognized by a distinguished institution like the CIMG.
Zoomlion Ghana Limited was established in January 2006 with a vision to promote clean and environmentally healthy communities in Ghana and throughout Africa and has worked assiduously in the area of environmental sanitation, landscaping and beautification, janitorial services, vector control services, water supply and cesspit emptying services among others.
The Company has established a huge Sorting and Compost facility at Adjen Kotoku near Accra with a capacity to process 900 tonnes of waste per 24 hour shift while it is in the process of establishing a Waste Management Institute. The company has since 2008 opened a branch in Togo, Angola 2009, Liberia and Zambia 2011, and intends to move to other countries and together with its subsidiaries have provided jobs to over 65,000 people nationwide .
The company has previously been awarded by the Millennium Excellence Awards, Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana, the CIMG, The Ist Ghana Customer Service Awards, Tema Achievers Excellence Foundation and the Times of Africa award held in India among others.
