On 21 September 2011, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation Wang Ying met with Brett Rierson, the newly appointed China Director of World Food Programme of the United Nations (WFP). Wang expressed his warm welcome to Rierson for his appointment as the Director of the WFP China and hope for increased cooperation between China and WFP.
Rierson gave a briefing on the Chinese government’s donation to WFP in 2011 and the use of financial resources in Somali that is provided through WFP.
They exchanged views on WFP’s procurement in China, China’s increased participation in activities of the WFP Executive Board, and WFP’s assistance worldwide.
