On 21 October 2011, Niu Dun Chinese vice minister of the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) met with Ms Ritt Bjerregarr the visiting Danish Ambassador-at-Large for Trade and Investment with China to exchange views on agricultural cooperation.

Niu highly appreciated agricultural cooperation between China and Demark. He noted that the two countries have seen a rapidly developed agricultural trade thanks to the productive and good cooperation of their ministries of agriculture. To further the cooperation, he suggested to establish a bilateral mechanism for exchange of agricultural policies; promote integrated pig production and marketing, and diseases control; carry out exchange activities in quality and safety of farm produce, organic farming operations and fisheries; and seek new ways for cooperation. By doing so, the two counties would complement each other for mutual benefit.

Ms Ritt Bjerregarr agreed with Niu’s suggestions. She said that Denmark has attached great importance to agricultural cooperation with China and is willing to work together with the Chinese side for expanded cooperation in agricultural R&D and trade to promote mutual development of the two counties’ agriculture.
