Adata Technology's 6Gb/s mSATA SSDs reportedly have been selected by Asustek Computer for use in its new Zenbook-series ultrabooks, marking a milestone for the Taiwan-based memory module firm to step into the embedded flash module market dominated by larger international peers such as SanDisk.

Adata has announced that Asustek's just-announced Zenbook series uses its XM11 mSATA SSD, which adopt SandForce's SF-2281 controllers and support the SATA 6Gb/sec standard.

Adata previously remarked that it is moving toward increased production of higher-margin products such as SSDs, server-use DRAM modules and external HDDs.

Memory controller IC supplier Phison Electronics reportedly has entered the supply chain of Acer's Aspire S3 series, according to industry sources.

In addition to new orders for ultrabooks, Phison's deployment into the market for eMMC memory devices is also bearing fruit. Its controller shipments for eMMC solutions are approaching five million units a month, the sources said.
