Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 10) - According to a report on Shanghai Securities News, Guangqi Honda may produce a new electric vehicle in China next year. Joint venture Deputy General Manager Yao Yiming made the statement at a EV test drive event held by Honda in Guangzhou earlier this week. JV officials were keen to emphasize that electric vehicles will play an important role in Guangqi Honda's future.
The star model of the event was a lithium ion battery-powered Honda Fit (pictured above) using engine technology from the FCX Clarity. A 200 volt outlet could recharge the car in less than six hours. The EV can attain a minimum driving distance of 150 km on one full charge.
Earlier in April of this year, Honda, GAC and the Guangzhou government signed an agreement to jointly hold EV test drive events in the city. The events will help measure the accessibility and practicality of Honda's new EVs, as well as aid in promoting social awareness for the new vehicles
