The total number of home/business subscribers to broadband fixed-line Internet services was steadily increasing to 5.18 million at the end of second-quarter of 2011, according to FIND (Foreseeing Innovative New Digiservices) under the government-sponsored Institute for Information Industry (III).
Including users of TANet, a network specifically designed for educational institutions, as well as wireless and mobile Internet-access subscribers, Taiwan had an estimated Internet-surfing population of 10.88 million as of end of June 2011, accounting for 46.9% of Taiwan's population.
