Netgear, a California-based vendor of networking/communication equipment, aims at revenues of US$2.0 billion by 2014, with the proportion coming from the Asia Pacific market expected to increase from 11-12% currently to more than 15%, according to company chairman and CEO Patrick Lo.
For market segmentation, Netgear has strengthened its software capability through large investment in development of value-added software, Lo indicated. Netgear has a software R&D center at its headquarters in San Jose, two in China and one in Taiwan, Lo said.
Netgear's competitiveness comes from reliability of its products. Lo indicated. Netgear products may be more expensive than competitions but Netgear adopts components of the best quality and the strictest quality control in production, Lo emphasized.
Among emerging markets, Netgear focuses on China, India, Brazil and Russia. Netgear lays emphasis on the China market in particular and has set up R&D centers in Beijing, Nanjing and Guangzhou, Lo indicated.
