ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, announced today it has won 50 per cent of the contract business for China Telecom’s 2011 Comprehensive Access Network Project, the highest percentage of all contract bidders.

The contract was issued in response to an urgent need by China Telecom for a comprehensive bearer network in multiple Chinese cities capable of carrying CDMA base stations and providing large customer services and soft-switching. As part of the China Telecom network project, ZTE will build 6 local networks in six core cities: Guangzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Shanghai, Quanzhou and Wenzhou.

The networks will be built with ZTE’s IP RAN solutions, which are based on the company’s ZXCTN 9000/6000 series products. These products are used to implement multi-service bearing with packet kernels. They also provide high-bandwidth, easy scalability and are highly reliable. Further, the solutions are capable of providing customers with Mobile Backhaul/Metro-E/IP RAN/FMC/Data Center E2E that reduce network construction and OAM costs and help operators implement smooth network evolution.

ZTE’s leadership in the China Telecom access network project follows its winning of three consecutive China Mobile PTN contracts on the strength of its PTN solutions, which are also based on ZXCTN 9000/6000 series products.  It also illustrates ZTE’s ability to address the demand of customers and its packet bearing platform network development capabilities.

As of the end of June 2011, ZTE-supported bearer networks have been created in cooperation with 600 operators in 126 countries around the world.
