Taiwan-based networking/communication equipment maker Wistron NeWeb began to ship LTE-enabled devices in the fourth quarter of 2011, according to company CEO Haydn Hsieh.
Wistron NeWeb is dveloping more than 10 LTE-enabled devices, including dongles, wireless routers and outdoor access points, Hsieh indicated. Since LTE is mainly applied to mobile transfer of data and multimedia content currently, Wistron NeWeb will not develop LTE-enabled handsets for voice communication for the time being, Hsieh added.
