Shanghai Twelfth Five-Year Plan for E-Commerce will be launched in a short period of time, said Chen Xiaoming from Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce on 2011 Forum on Developing Online Shopping on December 16.
During the plan period, Shanghai aims to have 1.2 trillion units of e-commerce transactions, 100 billion yuan in online shopping transaction volume, set up one to ten e-commerce cluster, build ten large-scale e-commerce platforms and foster 30 leading e-commerce companies.
Shanghai’s e-commerce transaction volume reached 425.2 billion yuan, nearly 16 times that in 2002. The number was 249 billion yuan in the first half of this year with a same-period growth of 24.77%. Shanghai leads the country by its e-commerce industry, which has become an important driving force in its industry restructuring, market exploration in domestic and international markets and job creation.
