TCloud Computing, a cloud computing application R&D company wholly owned by Taiwan-based information security software solution and service provider Trend Micro, has scored points in tapping the China market and will tap markets in Southeast Asia and other Asian countries, according to Trend Micro founder and chairman Steve Chang.

Through cooperation with Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and China-based Skycloud Technology, TCloud has won contracts from 10 clients, mostly telecom carriers and government units, in the China market. The model of cooperation is for TCloud to develop a cloud computing operating system platform based on open source software, CHT to help in data center establishment and Skycloud to provide system integration service, solutions and client services.

Skycloud has established two cloud computing centers in Beijing and one in Shanghai and plans to expand its marketing network around China to 33 offices by the end of 2012, according to company founder and chairman Edward Tian. Skycloud plans to expand its hardware capacity from 20,000 servers currently to 500,000 in 2016, Tian indicated.
