The 6th Meeting of China-South Africa Joint Working Group on Agriculture was held in Hainan from February 13 to 14. Chief Economist Yang Shaopin and Director-General Langa Zita of South African Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries headed delegations respectively to attend the meeting.
The two sides spoke highly of remarkable achievements in agricultural cooperation since the 5th Meeting of China-South Africa Joint Working Group on Agriculture. Action Plan on China-South Africa Agricultural Cooperation (2012-2013) was a key subject in discussion.
Participants reached consensus on the following issues. More South African students will enjoy scholarship when they come to China. Training courses on aquaculture continue to be held in China. The two sides will alternately dispatch study groups on agricultural machinery, agricultural tourism, processing and storage of agricultural products. The second phase of helping South Africa to build the aquaculture technology demonstration center is under way.
Both countries agreed that the 7th Meeting of China-South Africa Joint Working Group on Agriculture will be held in South Africa in the second half of 2013.
