General Motors China and Shanghai GM will be recalling 16,618 imported Chevrolet Captiva and 1,586 imported Opel Antara SUVs due to a potentially faulty ABS system, the Beijing Times reported today.
According to information from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the models in question were manufactured between early April 2006 and early November 2009. The vehicles are suspected to potentially contain impurities in their brake fluid, which may cause their anti-lock braking system to malfunction.
GM China and Shanghai GM will conduct free inspection and maintenance of all recalled vehicles in order to resolve any potential issues.
