Suguo Supermarket, which was committed to “harmonious retailing with low carbon emission and environmental protection”, planned to take practical action and join “Earth Hour” activity this year—turning off one third of its lighting devices in 1,200 direct-selling stores from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 31.
“Earth Hour” is part of the World Wildlife Fund’s appeal to combat global warming and it calls on individual, communities, businesses and government offices to take the environmental challenges by their actions—turning off lights from 20:30 to 21:30 on the last Saturday of every March. Representative from Suguo said, “China announced its emission reduction target by 2020 in Copenhagen, showing the strategic importance of economic development with low carbon emission. It won widespread attention inside China. Suguo, as a Chinese company, is obliged to respond to the nation’s call and promote such a meaningful event.”
