According to reliable industry sources, Chinese online community Mop.com is preparing to move its offices from Beijing to Nanning, Guangxi province. The move is reportedly the result of a decision by Joe Chen, Chairman and CEO of Beijing-based holdings company Oak Pacific Interactive, and the Oak Pacific Interactive management team.
A source told iFeng.com that Mop's choice of Nanning for its new headquarters was closely tied to preferential terms offered by the Nanning municipal government, which the source said has been hard at work developing its internet industry over the past two years. Mop, meanwhile, has struggled to maintain its popularity in the face of SNS and microblogging, making Nanning a more plausible fit for the company.
Mop CEO Sun Suojun did not deny the report when contacted by phone. He demurred when asked about Mop's user counts and active user counts, saying that he was unwilling "to give away too much."
