A China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) insider recently disclosed that the company will soon release a new version of mobile instant messaging software Fetion which will now support China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) and China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) mobile phone numbers. China Telecom and China Unicom users will be able to send 50 free SMS messages per month during the trial period.
In February 2010, China Mobile began allowing anyone to open a Fetion account through their email address. Subsequently, in November 2011, China Mobile began allowing its own mobile subscribers to send SMS messages to China Telecom and China Unicom users through Fetion.
