Chinese Wuling Rongguang comes to Egypt as Chevy Move

   Date:2012-07-19

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 18) - Recently, General Motors' first Egyptian produced microvan, the Chevrolet Move, made its debut in the country's passenger automobile market. However, what may come as a surprise to some is that the Move is actually a rebadged version of the Chinese SAIC-GM-Wuling Rongguang, also known as the Wuling N300.

This marks the first time that assembly of a Wuling has occurred outside of China. According to a report appearing on xkb.com.cn today, GM hopes to sell 5,000 Moves (pictured) in the country this year.

GM first decided to build the microvans in Egypt in 2010. Last November, SAIC-Gm-Wuling and GM Egypt signed technology licensing and engineering services agreements. The agreements are further that SAIC-GM-Wuling is ready to compete on a global stage.
