With all the talk about notebooks, smartphones, and tablets these days, it's easy to forget that there is still a market for desktop computers these days. While notebooks have been crowding out desktops for a couple of years now in consumer market share, Lenovo is still looking to innovate in the sector courtesy of its new IdeaCentre Q180 desktop.

Lenovo calls the IdeaCentre Q180 "the world’s smallest desktop PC" as it measures 6.1" x 7.56" x 0.86". If you crack open the case, you'll find a dual-core Intel Atom D2500 processor, AMD Radeon HD 6450A GPU with 512MB of memory, 4GB of system memory, 802.11n Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 (4 ports), USB 3.0 (2 ports), and an 8-in-1 media reader.

When it comes to storage, customers can choose from a 750GB HDD (old and busted) or a 128GB SSD (the new hotness). Given how small the desktop is, an internal optical drive is out of the question. However, Lenovo offers an optional external DVD burner or Blu-ray drive.

Customers can choose from Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional when it comes to the installed operating system.

“With the IdeaCentre Q180, we upped our game in the compact PC category,” said Nick Reynolds, executive director, Product Group Marketing, Lenovo. “Featuring the latest HD Graphics and Blu-ray 3D playback, the Q180 enables consumers to change the way they enjoy multimedia and the Web in their living room at an affordable price point.”

Pricing for the IdeaCentre Q180 starts at $349 and it is available to order today – the systems will begin shipping on December 1.
